This notice is to inform you of a unique exhibit occurring next Saturday, the 19th. Elder Street Gallery is hosting a photography-only exhibit featuring only four photographers. Including myself. The show is billed as “Alternative Eye” and focuses on conceptual photography. The intent is to provide viewers with engaging, thought provoking imagery. So, expect to be engaged in this exhibit.
Also, I hope you have June 8th on your calendar for HCP’s 25th Annual Juried Membership Show juried by Ann Wilkes-Tucker- photography curator for MFAH. I have two pieces in that show and will also be delivering an artist’s talk on June 21st at 7:00PM. For more information, navigate to http://www.hcponline.org/exhibitions06.html

I had the opportunity to volunteer event photography for A Caring Closet. This non-profit provides free information and prom dresses to needy girls. It was great fun to see 150 girls show up and see the excitement on their faces! It was interesting, also, to see girls try on their first dress - ever. Some didn't even know their dress size. If you have a formal dress, shoes and/or purse, please donate them/it to this organization!

Some points I hope you consider newsworthy:
1) There is a theme show titled “Into The Air” at Gallery 19 in the Heights this Saturday (April 14, 8-11 PM). Visit www.Gallery19Heights.org for more information. I will have some new black & white imagery on display there.
2) The 24th Annual Visual Arts Alliance Juried Open Exhibition juried by Polly Hammett accepted a piece into their show. I was one of 13% of the accepted works in last year’s show also and am happy to now have a trend going. The opening is April 20 in One Allen Center (1200 Smith Street, Houston) at 6PM.
3) Houston Center For Photography’s 25th Annual Juried Membership Show juried by Ann Wilkes-Tucker accepted TWO pieces into that show. Ann Wilkes is the photography curator at the Museum Of Fine Arts Houston (www.mfah.org) and selection by her is a real honor. The opening is on June 8 and I will be giving an artist talk on June 21st at 7:00PM. For more information, navigate to http://www.hcponline.org/exhibitions06.html

This note is to let you know that I will be participating in a group show at Gallery 19 this Saturday at 327 W. 19th Street, 77009 (www.Gallery19heights.org). Two other galleries on the block are also hosting events so it should be a fun night.
This is the annual Red Show and the gallery will be full of works done in red. It’s a fun show and I will be showing some new work. I am attaching the graphics I designed for the show which features a version of what I will be showing.

I just received word that a new, previously unseen image was accepted into a juried show at M2 Gallery. The juror is Patrick Palmer, Artist & Faculty, Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston and Department Head of Drawing, University of St. Thomas. The image selected was from a work in progress and can only be viewed at the exhibit which will be on January 13 (this Saturday). I will not be able to attend the opening since I will be hosting my own solo show that evening. If you make it to the opening, I'd love to hear how it was! |

Greetings and Happy New Year!
For those of you who participated in the gift drive this year, it was an amazing success with each of the 153 kids getting at least 8 gifts each. Thanks for your help.
This message is to also invite you to a solo show of some of my work. It will be on Saturday, January 13 from 7 – 10 PM at The Blitz (5115 Buffalo Speedway #700 in the same building as Starbucks at Westpark). 40% of sales will be donated to Daystar Residential, a non-profit for abused and neglected children.
This event will also mark the first ever, public display of work from the Daystar kids in my photography class. We’ll be silent auctioning a few of their pieces to raise money for the program.

This news message is two-fold. First of all, I will be participating in the “Fabulous Frauds” show at Gallery 19 on November 11. Artists are to mimic/copy a piece of work done by their idol. I will be honoring Duane Michals.
Second, I have looked into the new concept of on-line exhibits and made my first submission to one. This show was limited to just one type of subject matter – abstracts. My submission was accepted and also represents the only photography in the showing. Check it out at www.AbstractExposure.com. |

There are three events to tell you about that I will be participating in. They are on 7/29 (HCP print sale), 8/4 (White Linen Night in the Heights) and 8/5 (Spin2 opening at HCP). Information on all three are available on my website in the Exhibitions section. As always, I enjoy seeing friends at these kinds of events and would look forward to seeing you.
As usual, I'm sharing an image. This one is from Ground Zero. This "graffiti" was about 1-in. tall and present on black painted plywood. The wall was the kind of temporary structure put around construction sites at sidewalks. It was a quiet, dark, Sunday night when I came across it. I felt that a simple, uncomplicated depiction was best suited due to the nature of the message. I had an immediate response and those who have since seen the image have also responded - sometimes strongly. If you have such a reaction, I'd love to hear about it.

An interesting photo-op happened this week. There were 20 longhorns on Allen Parkway and some were ridden to City Hall. This was a publicity stunt for a cell phone company and gave a great opportunity to get some *very* unique photos. The link for these is here.
I'd love to hear your comments and help me pick the best one that will be submitted to the "Houston. It's Worth It" campaign.
Also, Gallery 19 is having a Group Show this Saturday from 7-10 PM.

Last weekend saw the 6th annual 48-Hr Film Project sweep Houston. Fourteen, all-volunteer teams had 48 hours to write, stage, film, edit and score a 3.5 to 7 minute film. I worked on the FuMiller Productions team and provided documentary and fashion shoot services. The madness resulted in a short film that will be screened along with the other teams. Screening will occur at the River Oaks Theatre on Wednesday at 7:15. Come see the results of a lot of excited, creative types!
Surf http://48hourfilm.com/houston/ for more information. And of course you can ask me whatever you want!

representing art from different media including photography. Check them out at www.m2-houston.com
2) There is a Group Show at Gallery 19 this Saturday. The usual music, food and drink will be present along with about 30 local artists to talk to about their work. Come out and enjoy what should be an enjoyable, fall night. And maybe start your holiday shopping?

This week's news is a suggestion to check out the new works on display at www.adamsimagery.com. The new work is from the recent visit to Maui although they don't look necessarily like the typical visions of Maui. But that is what I'm all about - seeking out the unusual and making it interesting. Because these are new pieces, your comments are appreciated and welcome.

This update is a little unusual and I hope you receive it in the way it is intended. Gallery 19's show last Saturday had the theme of "controversy". As a member, I participated by producing the image I'm sharing with you now. For those of you not in Texas, there's a vote coming up to ban gay marriages here. For those of you in Texas, I encourage you to go vote on this issue.

If you would like an archival quality print of this image (of any size up to 16" x 20"), I will provide whatever you want at cost. If you know of a non-profit that would like it, I will provide it free of charge. |

|
| 10/17/2005 |
This is a reminder that there will be a group show at Gallery 19 this Saturday. This is the first "themed" event for the Gallery and promises to be interesting with the theme being Controversy. Check out more details at www.gallery19.org.
Be sure to see my display inside and outside the gallery. And let me pour you some wine.

Well, fresh back from a week in Maui finds me loaded with images. and it's fun to share with you one of them. My partner, Dominick, had his own camera and thought it would be fun to get a picture of me getting a picture. So I thought I'd include that, too.

I'll be updating my website with new photos soon, so keep in touch.
Also, and most importantly, I invite you to come to ARToberFEST in Galveston this weekend. There's lots of art to be seen and I'll be there exhibiting. Check it out at www.artoberfest.com.

With the hurricane threat over, Houstonians are trying to resume normalcy. Of course, the preparation was a photo opportunity and I wanted to share a couple pictures with you. These show my view of people's response to the threat.

This week, I'll be going to Maui for a photo shoot. I'll show you something when I get back. If you have any suggestions or requests, please forward them.

I wanted to thank everyone who came to the Gallery 19 show last Saturday. I appreciate your support and hope you enjoyed yourselves. I certainly did. The attached photo shows the setup I had there. And across the way, there were 10 foot projections of some of my work.
The real purpose of this email is to announce the creation of www.AdamsImagery.com - your portal to me. Tony Vines (tony.vines@dot-tastic.com) did an absolutely fantastic job in getting this large website designed and running. Now it's available for you to peruse.

This is a reminder that this next Saturday from 7-11PM is the Group Show at Gallery 19 in the Heights. I'll be there showing my work along with about 30 other local artists. Also, the gallery next door just opened and they'll be doing the same. We'll have live music, food and drinks. |
