Houston Downtown: Winged Departure

Urbanized decay
Last fading Shadow, a gift
As life last departs

The old downtown building with chipping paint is a very familiar sight. This one, however, does not have all it's glass broken out by vandals. The one open window that has lost its pane served as a perch for this pigeon. But even he doesn't find the building worth staying at.

As his wings spread, the shape of his feathers and body contrast starkly with the lines and diagonals of the building. Even his flight path to the left of the image seems to contrast with the building, which is pointing to the right.
