This image shows the San Felipe del Morro fort in San Juan , Puerto Rico. The fort is about 500 years old and has flown under the flags of 5 countries. Today, it is a tourist attraction devoid of the stains of destruction. It is this dichotomy of conflict and peace that awaits the modern visitor.

This image is meant to convey hindsight as the arches mimic human eyes. The actual use of the rooms connected by these arches is unknown to us – the soldiers that ate here, the injured citizens gathered and awaiting medical treatment or perhaps the sharing of stories and entertainment filled these rooms.
