While exploring the island of Maui, HI, I came across a series of very old, rickety bridges. There was no guide on this hike, it was more of an “at your own risk” situation. Therefore, I don't know the proper history of this bridge and landing.
The heavy wire rope and reinforcing chain indicate the bridge has failed in the past and from the looks of the stone steps, that could have been quite a long time ago. The rope and its hardware are rusting together.
I continue to question the integrity of this unmonitored bridge as I step onto it… |
